April Blood is based in Kent, England. April Blood’s style is born from the soil of the Garden of England but leans into the musical traditions of the American South; the songs occupy a unique middle ground between Appalachian Folk and British Roots-Rock April Blood's sound could be described as indie-folk-rock with a touch of alt-country. Think First Aid Kit, The Be Good Tarnyas, Fleet Foxes. While strongly guitar-based, we experiment with different instruments including the harp, dulcimer and harmonium, which are woven through many of the songs. Lyrical, with haunting harmonies, our songs will lift you away from the mundane into a different time and place. The lyrics of our released songs can be found here.

April Blood's unique style comes from the eclectic influences that have coloured the lives and experiences of Paul Kelly and Tracy Vaughan Gough. Individually, Tracy and Paul have lived overseas, travelling and exploring different cultures. Now making music together, they are merging their diverse interests and musical inspirations into a a harmonious blend under the banner of April Blood.

We are always writing new music and at the moment we are concentrating on recording new songs. We’re releasing tracks regularly so follow us on streaming sites to get them first.

Dramatic and dark, The Reckoning takes the listener on Meg's journey home after many years exile. About revenge, this is a song of light and dark, dynamic and interspersed with catchy violin riffs and a soaring haunting sonic wail in the bridge. Powerful vocals and a memorable melody make The Reckoning one of our most exciting songs; inspired by our love of dark country, this is a slight departure from previous releases.

Our latest release is a joyful upbeat feel good song that you are going to love. It is a song about the excitement and uncertainties of embarking on something new.

Our latest release is a remix that is cinematic and dramatic - with the addition of multiple strings.

This song is inspired by the transient lives of those who live on the ranches of the Western US. While some settle and call the vast plains their home, others will always drift from place to place, not knowing what they are looking for.
This song is a musing on what might happen if fate hadn't brought you and your lover together when it did; and then you finally meet under different circumstances. How would that be?
An ostensibly joyful tune, it can also be interpreted more darkly. This is a beautifully atmospheric song combining a haunting vocal line interspersed with evocative harp and violin melodies.

A bitter sweet song about human interaction with nature and the damage it can cause.
One of our most popular tracks, with a catchy chorus. It is a song about an addictive relationship.
